Introduction
to Bio-Medical Task Group
The
Bio-Medical Task Group is breaking new ground in its attempts to
forge links between the fields of Biological Research (including
Bioinformatics) and Medical QR Research. This Task Group is run
jointly by Dr Peter Lucas
and Dr George Coghill.
Peter
Lucas has recently moved to Nijmegen University and has interests
such as 'Theory of Model Based Diagnosis' and 'Bayesian Network
and Decision Theory'.
George
Coghill has recently moved to Aberdeen University. His main research
interests are Model-based and Qualitative Reasoning; specifically
in the development of Fuzzy Qualitative Reasoning Systems, the use
of multiple models in diagnosis and bio-informatics, and the methodologies
of diagnosis.

The Task Group
also organised a Workshop on the Fundamentals
of Medical Informatics.
The Biomedical
Task Group organised a joint Workshops with EUNITE, this was held
in July 2003 and was part of the EUNITE Symposium.
They also organised
a Workshop at The European Conference on Artificial Intelligence
in Medicine (AIME'03)
